Major changes to the specified system process

Building Services Team —

We have changed the way we manage building consent and code compliance certificate applications where the project includes specified systems.

The most significant change is to our specified system forms. We are putting the responsibility back on the professionals to make sure we are given the relevant information with the building consent and code compliance certificate application.

A specified system form has also been introduced that must be submitted upon installation of the specified system in the building or with the code compliance certificate application (once the specified system is capable of performing to the performance standard of that system).

These changes affect Dunedin City Council only. You can continue to use the shared specified system forms if submitting building applications at other councils in the Southern Building Controls Group. These forms can be found on the applicable council website.

You will soon notice an improved change to our online application form, in particular the pages that relate to specified systems. In addition you will be able to lodge a building consent and project information memorandum application simultaneously.

Comprehensive guidance on the process and the new forms are available from our website.

If you require further information on these changes please contact DCC Building Compliance Officer, Cory Barnes, on 03 477 4000 or email bwof.contact@dcc.govt.nz.
