JOBDUN DOING THE JOB

Local businesses have taken up the opportunity to work with skilled young talent through the JobDUN programme, and there is a high level of satisfaction with the scheme.

JobDUN is Dunedin’s Business Internship Programme that allows businesses to focus on increasing satisfaction within the business and for customers, while providing real-world experience for tertiary students.

With the support of the Dunedin City Council, businesses may access $1000 per intern to assist taking on a person and retaining skilled people in the city.

Now in its 15th year, JobDUN has been shown to have placed 520 interns in local businesses, and resulted in 306 longer term positions including 103 FTEs and 235

new jobs.

There is also strong endorsement for JobDUN, as satisfaction with the

programme has been identified as high among businesses that have engaged with it. A recent survey found that 86% of businesses were very satisfied with the programme and 89% reported very high levels of satisfaction with the quality of the interns they have worked with.

Several high-profile, globally focused companies such as Education Perfect, Abacus Bio and Bison Ltd have used JobDUN in recruitment and supporting overall business objectives.
