South Dunedin Volunteer Hub Opening

Kaitūao o te Taitona | Volunteer South will be opening their new South Dunedin volunteer hub on Tuesday, 16 March as part of their continued efforts to support the wider Dunedin community with volunteer connections. This is a joint initiative of Volunteer South and the South Dunedin Community Network.

The South Dunedin volunteer hub will be joined by Taieri MP Ingrid Leary, who will be opening the hub to the public.

Date: Tuesday 16 March

Time: 10am

Venue: 278A King Edward Street

This will be followed by a morning tea with Ingrid Leary and other members of the Dunedin and South Dunedin community. This event is open to the public and people interested in supporting South Dunedin are encouraged to come.

The aim of the South Dunedin volunteer hub is to help empower the community to take action and respond within their own space. It also gives those living in South Dunedin a chance to seek volunteering opportunities within their community and reduces barriers like travel and technology literacy.

The choice to open the volunteer hub at the South Dunedin Community Network space was a simple one - there is no better place in South Dunedin for people to come and talk about their passion for South Dunedin and what they want to get out of life.

Volunteer South has seen an increase in volunteers using volunteering as a way to change career paths or gain experience and being in the SDCN space will enable more than just volunteer opportunities to happen.

Volunteer South promotes, supports and strengthens volunteering creating stronger more connected communities. For more information, visit www.volunteersouth.org.nz.

Community Collaboration Lunch

Dunedin Community House are having a bring a plate lunch to gather and discuss collaboration.  Everyone is welcome.

Date: Thursday 18 March

Time: 12.30pm

Venue: Dunedin Community House, 301 Moray Place

Various organisations have been meeting informally on Thursday mornings at 9am at Dunedin Community House and by Zoom.  There are two topics - how to collaborate and what to collaborate on.

The meetings are informal and attendees set the topics. It's been effective as a sounding board and learning tool and has triggered connections that have delivered for our community. As the meeting time is during work hours it has meant that some have been unable to attend so this lunch is an additional opportunity to meet.

Email Rob Riddell Tigeir eo@dch.org.nz to be added to the calendar invites for the regular meetings.
