The Ministry have made changes to building code clause G4/AS1, requiring ventilation to kitchens and bathrooms in household or accommodation units that contain cooktops, showers and baths.

The addition of clause 1.2.5 to G4/AS1 means household and accommodation units must have mechanical extract fans installed to remove moisture generated by the above fixtures.

Adding extractor fans is a compliant way to ventilate bathrooms and kitchens, ensuring homeowners can more easily meet the new Healthy Homes Standards.
