Increase in building consent fees and charges

Building Services Team —

The Council has recently completed its 10 Year plan process and will soon be confirming the 2018/19 fees and charges.

Fees and charges relating to building consents are proposed to increase by 4%, subject to being approved by the Council. The proposed increase will help cover the increased costs associated with processing, inspecting and certifying building consents.

Also, new fees are being introduced for some building work to cover the actual costs of providing services. These include planned fees for code compliance certificates, which range from $88 to $704 depending on the type, scale and value of the building work.

They also include changes to the Building Consent Authorities’ (BCA) levy, which will now be based on value of work, and a $175.70 fee if you cancel a building inspection on the same day. Certificate for public use applications and renewals are also set to significantly increase.

For more detail please refer to the 2018-19 Fees and Charges schedule on the DCC website.
