From the Building Inspections Team
The building inspections team at Dunedin City Council have been busy over the last few months inspecting buildings to ensure building work is carried out in accordance with the consented plans and Building Code.
The team has a few reminders that will help with making the process run smoother for everyone.
Inspection Bookings
When booking an inspection please inform the booking officer of all the inspection types that are required to be inspected. This is important so the correct inspection can be logged and an appropriate amount of time allocated to perform the inspection.
You should have a clear timeline for your building work and book inspections for appropriate dates well in advance to avoid delays on site.
Booking times
If you are unable to get the inspection time requested then please ask the booking officer to put you on the cancellation list. The bookings team will always endeavour to move inspections forward when other inspections are cancelled throughout the day.
Documentation on site
A full legible copy of the approved documents must be available on site for the building inspector. The inspection can not be carried out if the documents are not available and a new inspection time will need to be booked.
