Code compliance certificate applications
There's some things you need to know about requesting your code compliance certificate once all the consented work is completed and passed by the DCC inspection team.
A code compliance certificate (CCC) should be requested after you pass the final inspection of your building consent. This signals the completion of your project and the final step in the building consent process.
Request for a CCC is made by completing a (Form 6) application for code compliance certificate. The Form 6 can be completed and signed by the owner, applicant or a nominated agent.
In order to avoid delays in receiving your CCC, there are some important things to remember when submitting your application and filling in your Form 6:
Please complete the form in full. This includes noting the owner and their contact details and the agent (if applicable) and their contact details. We may need to phone and speak with either so phone numbers are important.
Please provide an address of where the CCC should be posted. A field for this appears on page 2 of the Form 6. The postal address should be written in full (including postcode) and needs to be a valid postal address.
If the Form 6 is being filled in by or being sent to an agent - Please don’t assume we have the details. The agent now may not be the same as when the consent was first applied for. Details should be provided in full.
Note: Companies, please provide your PO Box address if you have one – street addresses may not be valid postal points. If you live in a rural area you may need an agreement for RD delivery. Please provide your PO Box or CMB delivery address if applicable.
Please ensure all the supporting documentation has been provided with your CCC application. For example:
- Records of work (memoranda) from licensed building practitioner(s) for restricted building work they carried out or supervised.
- Producer statements.
- Certificates relating to energy work (if nominated as part of the consent) e.g. gas and electrical certificates.
- Evidence that specified systems are capable of performing to the performance standards set out in the building consent.
- Any additional documentation requested during inspections.
Once the CCC application has been received, we will assess the required documentation for accuracy. Once accepted the clock starts and the statutory timeframe of 20 working days for processing your application begins.
During processing the clock stops if we have to ask for more information. Once all the required information has been provided and checked, the clock will re-start.
Please make sure records of work (ROW memoranda) are filled in correctly by the licensed building practitioner. The CCC application will be delayed if relevant sections of the record of work are not filled in.
Any outstanding fees must be paid in full before a code compliance certificate will be issued. This includes the payment of development contributions if applicable and not yet paid.
