Building a new pump track at Seddon Park

New Pump Track

Dunedin City Council —

We’ve started work to upgrade the existing BMX track at Seddon Park in Mosgiel and will be building a new, permanent pump track there soon afterwards.

We asked the community to let us know what they want and provide feedback during our recent Play Spaces consultation. There was a lot of support for more pump tracks in Dunedin including adding one to complement the existing cycling facilities at Seddon Park.

The community also asked us to upgrade the BMX track as over time its condition has worsened and was in need of some upkeep and maintenance. We took this feedback on board and will be working to address the condition of the BMX track and install a permanent pump track nearby.

The BMX track will be closed while this work is done as we need to realign it to make room for the pump track. The pump track will be sealed so bikes, scooters and skateboards can use it. The park will become a central bike hub for people of all age groups and skill levels to play on all at the same place.

Both tracks are expected to be ready by the end of December – just in time for the summer holidays. Landscaping and seating will be completed early next year.

The sportsground, velodrome, Spey Street playground and basketball court will still be accessible as we complete the work. For more information about our Play Spaces and upgrades to local playgrounds, visit our website.
