Investing in our great small city - the 10 year plan

Building Services Team —

You’ll be starting to hear about the 10 year plan for Dunedin that we’re working on now. This plan helps to shape our city and we want to know what you think the future should hold for Dunedin.

The plan outlines the services and activities the DCC plans to provide, the things we want to do, how much we expect things to cost and what it all means for rates and debt. Some of it is our ‘business as usual’ work that keeps the city ticking over, and there are also big projects such as revamping the central city and the proposed waterfront bridge.

Why is it important?

The 10 year plan is your best opportunity to tell the Council what we should do and where money should be spent.

Hearings - what’s different?

All feedback counts and this year you will have the opportunity to speak with Councillors at hearings during the consultation period rather than afterwards. We are trialling this to simplify the process. Hearings are from 9-13 April. Anyone can speak at the hearings – you don’t have to complete a feedback form beforehand, but you can if you want to. We’ll be in touch about how to register to speak at a hearing.

What can you do now?

Start thinking about what you want to say to the Council about our city’s future and get ready to have your say when the draft plan is open for feedback from Wednesday, 14 March until noon on Monday, 23 April. We’ve already had lots of ideas from the community and these suggestions have been considered while preparing the draft plan.

You can tell us what you think ahead of time, as well as submitting during the consultation period. Go to www.dunedin.govt.nz/10-year-plan. We look forward to hearing from you!
