Taieri Gorge Rail Walk
Presbyterian Support is teaming up with Dunedin Railways and Dunedin South Lions Community Trust to fund raise $15,000 for group programmes.
Group programmes help children gain essential life skills and include courses for parents with young children and grandparents who are raising grandchildren. The courses for children to help them better understand themselves, their emotions and gain confidence. The parent and grandparent courses connect people who are in similar situations giving them tools and skills to handle things a little differently.
This is a rare opportunity to walk the Taieri Gorge while supporting a great cause! $65 gets you your return train ticket (normally $115pp), a walk along the historic train line and a sausage sizzle. Departing at 8.30am from the Dunedin Railway Station, the train will wind its way through the Taieri Gorge to Flat Stream, where the walk will begin. Along the tracks you walk, through tunnels and over historic bridges. Lasting about 2 - 2.5hrs allowing plenty of time to take photos, soak up the scenery, followed by a sausage sizzle at Hindon before urning to Wingatui and Dunedin. More information and details on our Facebook event.
Tickets are $65.00 and numbers are limited to only 400 passengers. So don't delay in booking your seat to enjoy this unique experience.
To book your seat, please email bookings@dunedinrailways.co.nz or phone (03) 477 4449.
Please note: Unfortunately the walk is not suitable for children under the age of 10.
