Transition period ends for building code clauses; B1, E2, G7 and H1

The transition period for the use of both the previous and new versions of the above documents ended 2 November 2022. The old documents can no longer be used.

Code of ethics for Licensed Building Practitioners (LBPs)

The new code of ethics for LBP's is now in force. The code of ethics will ensure high standards are maintained in the industry, giving the public more confidence that LBPs are reputable and operate ethically. More information can be found here

BuiltReady and CodeMark schemes

The new BuiltReady scheme is introduced alongside an updated and strengthened CodeMark scheme, both of which will enable faster consenting of quality assured homes and buildings.

Revised National Seismic Hazard Model 

The revised National Seismic Hazard Model results have been released to provide an estimate of the likelihood and strength of an earthquake on any given site in NZ. 

Lead in plumbing, and hollow-core floors - consultation outcome

The proposed changes for the 2022 consultation focused on plumbing and drainage, protection from fire and structural stability of hollow-core floors.

MBIE will continue to work through the submissions on the proposed changes to protection from fire, and the other plumbing and drainage proposals.
