Exciting career opportunities within Building Services

Building Services Team —

Dunedin is experiencing the biggest growth in its economy in a decade, and at the heart of this is a construction boom, with large projects by the university already under way, and more in the pipeline such as the new Dunedin Hospital.

In addition, our heritage buildings are being revitalised, commercial buildings are being upgraded, earthquake strengthening projects are underway, and new dwellings are on the rise.  Be part of this exciting future by joining our Building Services team.

We currently have two positions available;  Senior Officer, and Building Consent Processing Officer, with a plumbing and drainage focus.

Balancing customer service and a regulatory function, the Senior Officer is primarily responsible for training (and in the future possibly leading) new technical recruits; undertaking technical competency assessments of Building Consent Officers and Inspectors; leading technical improvement initiatives; and undertaking backup processing of building consents/inspections. This is a newly established multifaceted technical role, which is likely to morph over time. The role will therefore suit someone receptive to change and can work in an environment of ambiguity.

As a Building Consent Processing Officer you will be primarily responsible for ensuring that building consents are processed and granted in accordance with the Building Act and Regulations. This includes the use of buildings, multidisciplinary aspects of building construction, plumbing and drainage, structure, fire safety, ventilation, building services, accessibility and facilities.

If you have experience in either of these fields of work, and are looking for a new challenge, then this is your chance to be part of a motivated and supportive team, while earning a competitive salary.
