Does your building project require a new water connection to a Council water main?

Building Services Team —

This information will help you avoid delays in the process.

If your building project requires a new water connection you will need to submit a completed “Application for Water Supply”.  To ensure there are no delays in providing your project a water connection, lodge a water supply application at the same time as your building consent application.  Your building consent plans should also show all details of the new water service design.

Only an Approved Water Service Connection Installer (AWSCI) can lay the service pipe from the Council watermain to your property boundary.  We encourage you to discuss any technical water connection requirements with your AWSCI before submitting the “Application for Water Supply”.

Submitting your “Application for Water Supply” early in the building process allows any issues to be identified and addressed.  Then when your AWSCI is ready for the Council’s contractor to make the final connection to the watermain, an email from your AWSCI to book it in is all that is needed.

The “Application for Water Supply” form and the list of AWSCI’s is available on our website.

For any questions relating to your water supply application, please contact the WWS Customer Accounts Officer on 03 477 4000.
