OLVESTON – GALLERIES, LIBRARIES, ARCHIVES, MUSEUMS

Olveston Historic Home —

Have you visited Olveston Historic Home recently? Looking for something unique? Why not join one of our speciality Tuesday tours?

There’s a different theme every week, so find one that suits your interests!

Go ‘Behind the Ropes’ on the first Tuesday of each month and explore areas not seen by the general public and peruse the basement areas. With treasures tucked away inside the cupboards and cabinets, Olveston invites you to discover and learn about rarely viewed items.

Have a closer look at the art collection acquired by the Theomin family between the late 1800s and the early 1960s with the ‘Art Tours’ every second Tuesday of the month. Learn about the hundreds of artworks on display.

If architecture is more your thing, come along for an in-depth look at the history behind the design and build of Olveston with our ‘Architectural Tour’ on the third Tuesday of each month. See conceptual plans and designs by London architect Sir Ernest George and how they compare to the building’s completion.

During the warmer months, our Garden Tour is held on the fourth Tuesday of the month. Recognised as a garden of National Significance, you’ll see a variety of flora at Olveston from kauri to cactus – and everything in between. Learn how the garden has been shaped over the years.

All our specialty tours start at 3pm on a Tuesday. If the timings aren’t suitable, you can also book your own private group by arrangement for a more convenient time.
