Earthquake-prone buildings update
A plan is being developed to manage earthquake-prone buildings in the Dunedin district
Under the Building (Earthquake-prone Buildings) Amendment Act 2016 Dunedin was originally classed as being a low seismic risk area. With some parts of rural Dunedin now classed as a medium seismic risk area, our first priority is to identify where the boundary between the medium and low seismic risk area is within the Dunedin district.
While
we work on our plan seismic assessments can be submitted to Council but must be
done in accordance with the current methodology set out in the regulations.
