Dianne's Kitchen
South D Library's Dianne Mears taste tests and shares some of her favourite recipes from the Dunedin Public Libraries cookbook collection.
If you're a bit like me, after a busy week at work you just want to make something easy and not too complicated. Sometimes I just want to have a lazy day cooking or baking.
I've come across a few easy recipes from books on our shelves, that have now made their way into my recipe stash, or I have ended buying my own copy of the book to go into my book shelves.
I think I'm going to end up buying the book Family Favourites: Bargain Box and Nadia Lim. I have taken it out a few times now and have a few tried and true recipes. I love making her 'Bangin' Banana Bead' on page 151. This makes one loaf and is amazing, sometimes I don't have natural yoghurt but I usually have a mixed berry I can use instead. This adds some extra flavour and makes the loaf a big hit in my house.
I've also made the 'Homemade Pizza Dough' on page 156, this is easy to make, and I haven't bought pizza for a while. After getting all the ingredients I needed from the supermarket, I had fun putting it all together and we had amazing meat lovers’ pizza for tea.
Check out this book when you are in the library next and see if you can find something that takes your fancy.
