Imaginary Numbers is book 9 of the urban fantasy InCryptid series, and it didn't disappoint!

In this book we follow Sarah's journey from Ohio to Portland to see her cousins, a trip that will test if she can keep control of her abilities.

After landing in Portland, Sarah encounters another Cuckoo - they don't like others in their territory and this is when things start to get interesting. There's also Artie, who Sarah has been in love with him for years. No sooner have these two gotten in the car together than they are targeted by a large vehicle and Artie won't wake up. Why are there Cuckoos here, and what do they want with Sarah? What have they done to Artie, and can Sarah bring him back to himself?

I just had to keep on reading and see how this story was going to unravel. Unsurprisingly, given the title, numbers play an important part in the story. Sarah has to balance the compelling nature of the numbers and her desire to save her family, with the knowledge that if she finishes the equations, she could help the Cuckoos destroy the world.

I can't wait for book 10, Calculated Risks, to come out - it's currently scheduled for February 2021.

If you enjoy urban fantasy, give this author a go, but do start at book 1 of this series!
