Kitchen Table Radio

Kay Mercer —

What if the Library escaped the confines of a building and became a radio show?

When the Library is closed, we have 24/7 digital services available via our website. But what if you don't have internet at home, or a computer or device to connect to the digital world? Radio could well be key to bridging the gap between the Library and the community when a trip to a library building isn't possible.

Recognising that radio is important to many people, especially those who have difficulty in getting out and about, Dunedin Public Libraries in partnership with Otago Access Radio (OAR 105.4FM Dunedin) and Dunedin Public LIbraries Association (Friends of the Library) want to bring you a radio show that's tailored to fit you: the kind of show, with a uniquely Dunedin/Otago focus, that becomes your regular companion as if we're sitting across the kitchen table from you having a yarn.

We'd like you to help shape the sort of show you'd like to listen to by completing our Kitchen Table Radio Survey. It'll only take a few minutes and you can post your response in the boxes at all Dunedin Public Libraries and Bookbuses or return them in a red Library courier bag if you have home deliveries. Surveys are also available at Community House on Moray Place, via Meals on Wheels, and at various locations throughout the City and surrounding suburbs.

You can even complete one online if you want to!

If you have friends or family this could apply to, please share this information and encourage them to have their say.

The survey closes on 31st March 2021, and we'll then get to work designing a show for Dunedin.

You can listen to OAR FM Dunedin on 105.4FM and 1575AM. Podcasts are available from oar.org.nz and from the accessmedia.nz app, which is free to download from Google Play and the Apple App Store.

Dunedin Public Libraries have a regular what's on slot on OAR FM Dunedin called the LibraryMix - tune in at 1pm on Saturday's for the latest Library news and events.
