LOTE4Kids

Two exciting developments!

Storytime in your language just got even better. We are excited to let you know about the addition of children’s picture books translated into New Zealand Sign Language. LOTE4Kids already had titles in Auslan, BSL and ASL, but now has NZSL too which makes them much more relevant and accessible to Kiwis. Sign language stories can help develop communication skills and promote inclusivity and diversity in children's literature. LOTE4Kids’ sign language translators provide visually engaging performances that will entertain and delight all audiences. Go directly to LOTE4Kids NZSL to view the collection or through our Digital Library page.

Login with your Dunedin Library card barcode number and your Library PIN/Password. Click on the NZSL tile to access the titles.

If you are looking for more stories translated into NZSL, check out this series on Te Reo Singalong or the resources on Turi TV (where you will also find awesome tutorials for learning NZSL).

There are now over 55 languages represented in the LOTE4Kids collection of storybooks, including te reo Māori, Arabic, Farsi, Mandarin, Tagalog, Tamil, and Ukrainian. A great resource for tamariki to learn a new language or connect with books in their first language.

The other exciting development is the creation of a LOTE4Kids app which you can download for free onto your phone or tablet. Login with your DPL barcode number and away you go. If you experience any problems accessing LOTE4Kids or have forgotten your PIN, please contact any Library Help Desk or email library@dcc.govt.nz
