Found a Few New Authors

Dianne from our South Dunedin Library shares some new favourites and recommends the best of the bunch.

I love looking through the books that people return to the library and seeing what everyone is reading. I came across a couple of wee gems a few weeks ago and I couldn’t resist taking them out. I am so glad that I did as I have now found some new favourite authors and I’m reading their other books that are on our shelves.

Author: Maya Linnell

I’ve just finished reading Magpie’s Bend and if I’m truthful, I started off only reading this book during my lunch break so that I could savour it and make it last. It was hard to put down.

We are taken into the lives of everyone who lives in the small country town of Bridgefield. This amazing community rallies together to save their local general store and post office. They must come up with the money to save the shop from out-of-town buyers and who knows what would happen then? Pie day could go, and karaoke would be the new thing?

Locals Lara and Toby seem destined to be together, but can they overcome all drama that happens. Too many things are in the way, pain from the past and mix ups in the present. We watch the progress of Lara and Toby and the community coming together to do their best in finding ways to raise the money, from a singles ball, to a fun run.

Can Toby and Lara ever get together or is there too much transpiring to keep them apart?

I can’t wait to read the rest of her books that the library holds:
Wildflower Ridge
Bottlebrush Creek

This book isn’t being published until later this year but I’m sure it will be just as good as her other ones: Paperbark Hill.

Author: Leonie Kelsall

Before I even started reading one of this author’s books I gave one to a customer who was after something new to read. She came back within 3 days telling me that she couldn’t put the book down and what else did I have for her to read by Leonie Kelsall.

Oops, when you have to tell a customer that they are out as you have been recommending her to everyone but you have another author for them to try – Maya Linnell.

I’ve been trying to find time to read The Wattle Seed Inn, but have been really busy in the garden instead. This is my next book to read but a few customers have said that is is hard to put down and a good read, you can’t do better than a recommendation from a happy customer.

I can’t wait to read the other book that the library holds:
The Farm at Peppertree Crossing
The River Gum Cottage – to be published 2022
