What's On

Music Month is ready and raring to go, with a revamped Nook & Cranny Music Festival, performances all May long, and Matariki right around the corner!

Music Month Performances

Join us at the Library right throughout May for a series of performances from musicians all around Dunedin! With evening performances during the week, Saturday lunchtime performances, and busking on Sunday, there's something on to suit everyone's taste in tunes at the libraries!

Nook & Cranny

The Nook & Cranny Music Festival takes on a different look this year! Join us for our Plaza Party on the 1st of May, stop by the Pedal Party on the 15th for everything you need to know about pedals, or check out the Silent Disco Day on the 29th for a browse and a boogie!

Songwriting 101: A Workshop with Darryl Baser

Darryl Baser hosts a songwriting 101 workshop at the Dunedin City Library for all comers of all abilities. Darryl believes pretty much anyone can express themselves through songwriting. At 51 Darryl has been a songwriter since age 20.

The session is planned for 60 to 90 minutes. Darryl will explain his process, and encourage attendees to be vulnerable in a safe non-judgemental space.
Bring your ideas and leave your fear behind.

TechWeek 16-21 May

Join us this Tech Week for an array of new tech-focused resources at the Libraries! From robots, to behind-the-scenes tours, to educational talks on using Library tech, there's something to quench everyone's thirst for knowledge at Dunedin Libraries!

Māori Legends Exhibition

This Matariki, the Reed Gallery will play host to a treasure trove of stories, old and new, a celebration of Māori stories, illustrators, and authors focusing on picture books for our tamariki highlighting pukapuka from our reference collection which includes older books written from a pākehā perspective of Māori pūrākau in the early 1900s.

We see this exhibition as a way of sharing what we have in the archives and giving particular focus and voice to Māori illustrators, artists, and writers.

NZSL Week

9th-15th of May is New Zealand Sign Language Week, a great opportunity to put your Sign Language skills to the test! Try learning some new words, brushing up on your skills, or practicing on another person!

Block Party
