Happy Anniversary - City of Literature

Anne-Maree Wigley —

Dunedin's 5th anniversary of UNESCO City of Literature status

In 2014 Dunedin became New Zealand’s first UNESCO Creative City when it was awarded ‘City of Literature’ status. 5 years on, and the vision of a city that lives, breathes and connects through its people, its culture and its intense love of literature is well and truly being realised.

Dunedin Public Libraries plays a key role with its wealth of collections, including the special City of Literature collection featuring books by Dunedin authors, books published in Dunedin and books about or set in Dunedin. These titles are scattered throughout the general collections, identified by the distinctive City of Literature logo. Users of the City Library can find many on display on the Ground Floor.

If looking for these titles in our catalogue, type in ‘dunedin city of literature’ in the Search box, and then use the limits on the left hand side to refine your search further.

Dunedin Public Libraries’ exciting events calendar also includes activities run in partnership with the City of Literature.

Come and see us to find a read to satisfy the soul or to meet up with like-minded people at author talks, workshops and book launches.
