Creative Cities Southern Hui

Tuesday 28 November – Saturday 2 December 2017
Dunedin UNESCO City of Literature warmly invites you to the
Creative Cities Southern Hui: An invigorating assemblage of local and global creative minds.

The Creative Cities Southern Hui is a FREE multiple day collaborative event, exploring the opportunities, diversities and potentialities of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

Every event is open to ALL creative minds interested in arts, culture, collaboration and community. We welcome you to be inspired by creative enterprise, develop creative partnerships, become creatively energised, converse, collaborate and help shape communities.

All events are FREE and open to all. Registration is required through the Dunedin City of Literature website.

Spanning several days, the ‘Hui’ offers multiple events, talks, workshops and performances around the themes of creativity, connection and collaboration, including:

University of Otago Centre for the Book: Books and Users

A day of scholarly presentations and discussions, exploring the many ways we interact with books, as well as probing the meaning of ‘user’. As books and print become increasingly available in multiple formats and media, do our uses change and do we expect different things from books? Bring your own experiences and reflections and discover the diversity of uses humans have found for the ubiquitous object we call the book.

Creative Connections
Aiming to explore creativity as the touchstone of healthy, sustainable communities, and celebrate the power of collaboration to inspire, Creative Connections presents a wealth of exciting keynote speakers. Be enthused, feel inspired and get connected. Join us for a day of global and national talks on the meaning of creativity. Speakers include Steven Edmund Winduo (poet and scholar, Papua New Guinea), Anna Maria Lorusso (professor and publishing consultant, Bologna, Italy) and Guy Ryan (founder of Inspiring Stories, New Zealand).

Creative Cities Transitions and Transformations
A space for participation, collaboration and forward-thinking. A full day workshop inviting local and global creative minds to source ways of cross-pollination, and develop sustainable creative partnerships with the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Bring your enthusiasm, your creative inspiration and willingness to collaborate! Facilitated by Dr Noel Waite of RMIT University, Melbourne.

Ara Toi Community Hui
Join the Creative Dunedin Partnership to present, enjoy and discuss progress on Ara Toi Ōtepoti – Our Creative Future: Dunedin's arts and culture strategy. Join the discussion and have your say on how arts and culture is shaped in your community.

The Creative Cities Southern Hui is an opportunity to foster creative connections through all art forms, disciplines and interests. Spread the word and encourage others to meet, listen, share and collaborate with us!
