Knitwit Tuesday

Experienced or beginner knitters of all ages are invited to join our weekly knitting group. Bring your own wool and knitting needles, and maybe a pattern or two to swap with fellow knitters.
Guidance and assistance available, along with a selection of the Library’s latest knitting books, hot off the press!

Once Upon a Sunday: Globe-Trotting Tales

The Stupendous Pinniped Puppet show - Dunedin Public Libraries Tour

Meet Leone, a feisty sealion, and learn about this iconic species that graces our shores (and the odd swimming pool!).
Have you seen the St Clair statue, a reclining beauty in her fur coat, called Mum? who is she? Find this out and more!
Puppets, music, stories, a take-home puppet activity. This show get the royal SEAL of approval, arf arf!

Around the World in 80 Tales: Storytelling Festival

Take a journey around the world, through the stories from some of Dunedin’s diverse cultures.
Over 15 different languages and performers, plus dance, puppets, and music come together to create a beautifully colourful gala day.
Be part of this annual Dunedin festival for World Storytelling Day: a chance to celebrate diversity, hear other languages and experience the universality of story.

Dunedin Pride will be holding a Pride Workshop on diverse families in New Zealand, presented by a guest speaker.

Wednesday Evening on the 11th of April 2018
Come and join us for Pride Poetry Night, the evening will include an open-mic night and readings from Dunedin-based guest poets.

Friday Evening on the 13th April 2018
Queer As... LGBTQI Writers tell it how it is. Join us for a lively discussion and readings by guest authors Mary Rillstone, Kyle Mewburn and Steven Eldred-Grigg.

Special pre-school storytime, featuring stories about different kinds of families, and how love is love.

The hoiho, or yellow-eyed penguin, is thought to be one of the world's rarest penguin species. Tell us your hoiho story and you could win a cool prize pack!
For ages 7-15.

Cool-as Kiwi: Children’s Art Competition
Draw or paint a picture of New Zealand’s native bird, the shy little kiwi, in his native habitat.
Enter our competition and you could win a cool-as prize!
For children aged 5-15.

THE FLYING PENGUIN KITE WORKSHOP

Pick up a penguin and make him fly! Join us on Friday 20th April for our special Wild Dunedin kite workshop and make your very own kite. Then head up to Larnach Castle’s Camp Estate on Saturday 21st April to fly your masterpiece!
