Creative Cities Southern Hui
An invigorating assemblage of local and global creative minds
Tuesday 28 November – Saturday 2 December 2017
The Creative Cities Southern Hui is a FREE multiple day collaborative event, exploring the opportunities, diversities and potentialities of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
Every
event is FREE and open to ALL creative minds. Registration is required through
the Dunedin City of Literature website.
Spanning several days, the ‘Hui’ offers multiple events, talks, workshops and performances around the themes of creativity, connection and collaboration (See maps of venues in the gallery):
7.00pm, Tuesday 28 November
Opening evening keynote speaker, Warwick Jordan.
Publisher, illustrious hoarder, and Hard to Find Books proprietor, Warwick Jordan, opens Dunedin’s Creative Cities Southern Hui. Join Warwick as he shares some legendry laughs and life lessons through literature.

Centre for the Book Symposium: Books and Users
A day of scholarly presentations and discussions, exploring the many ways we interact with books, as well as probing the meaning of ‘user’. As books and print become increasingly available in multiple formats and media, do our uses change and do we expect different things from books? Bring your own experiences and reflections, and discover the diversity of uses humans have found for the ubiquitous object we call the book.

Creative Connections, Keynote Speakers
Creative Connections aims to explore creativity as the touchstone of healthy, sustainable communities, and celebrate the power of collaboration to inspire. Join us for a day of global and national talks on the meaning of creativity. Be enthused, feel inspired and get connected. Speakers include Steven Edmund Winduo (poet and scholar, Papa New Guinea), Anna Maria Lorusso (professor and publishing consultant, Bologna UNESCO City of Music, Italy) and Noel Waite (strategic
designer, researcher and teacher, RMIT University, Melbourne UNESCO City of

Creative Cities Transitions and Transformations
A space for participation, collaboration and forward-thinking. A full day workshop inviting local and global creative minds to source ways of cross-pollination, and develop sustainable creative partnerships within the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Bring your enthusiasm, your creative inspiration and willingness to collaborate! Facilitated by Dr Noel Waite of RMIT University, Melbourne.
