Possibilities

Paul Williamson —

I prefer summer to the winter season
I'm a summer time boy that's the reason
Yet I prefer Canada to a neighbour to the south
And I prefer New Zealand in certain months
I prefer to schedule my summer season
July in B.C., January - Dunedin
I prefer a car with the top folded down
But when it rains and when it snows
I have to be sure the top to close
I prefer my daughters be near to me
Yet one's in New Zealand
The other, far north, is hard to see
But I love New Zealand
The Great Bear Rain Forest too
So do I travel - you bet I do
I prefer my waterfront island house
To my townhouse in the crowded city
With its teaming streets crammed as can be
But I love the city, there's much to see
The jazz, the buzz, and the company
I prefer a sail boat to a cramped jetliner
But I love in Vancouver to board a plane
And wake up for breakfast in Vulcan Lane
I prefer nations whose Prime Ministers fair
Are women under forty, a breath of fresh air
I prefer beer over tonic and gin
But I know g and t is her favourite sin
So of course I'm often bringing it in
I prefer an outdoor shower
To those cramped inside ones
One has to clean for an hour
I prefer to know what I prefer
Over not being sure
For hour after hour
And I prefer youth to age
But age is surely what I've got
And as possibilities go
I prefer ........ to not give it up
