Nau mai haere mai!

How quickly all of our lives can be turned upside down with the reemergence of Covid 19 in the community. Fortunately we have some experience dealing with this last year and go into this lockdown having learnt a number of lessons from last year.

We will be keeping a close eye on the developments over the coming days and will be planning accordingly for all eventualities. Our teachers have the capacity to take all learning online through our Google Suite including Google Meets, Google Classroom, Google Docs etc. All students have the skills to be able to use these applications to continue their learning if needed online.

It is important as parents that we do not panic, that we reassure our young ones and check in with them frequently over the coming days. There is plenty of naturally occuring learning that our young ones can be doing around the house. Low risk renovation projects around the house gives our kids the opportunity to learn practical skills that will serve them well once they leave home. Budgeting skills around grocery shopping and planning meals for the week. Literacy and numeracy skills required for reading recipe's and creating nutritious food that will develop physical and mental wellbeing.

Like our first lockdown this will give us all time to slow down for (we hope just a few days) and enjoy the company of our families.

We will continue to keep you updated with our next steps as a school to continue the education of your students as we will be informed by the Ministry of Health and Education.

Over the next few days remember all the things we can be thankful for and this will enhance our wellbeing.

Nga mihi nui
