East Otago High School vs Maniototo Area School Sports Exchange

Roz Croucher —

On Friday, 28th April, EOHS students travelled to Maniototo Area School for our annual sports exchange.

After two failed attempts, due to weather, to play our sports exchange with Maniototo Area School in Term One, we were finally able to travel to Ranfurly on Friday, 28th April to compete.  The annual sports exchange with Maniototo Area School this year was a great success, this exchange celebrates Jack Martin and everything Jack loved to do and was, a fantastic sports person on and off the field.  This year teams played football, softball, basketball and ki o rahi.

The day was played in great spirit and saw outstanding sportsmanship and the same competitive spirit that has been displayed by both schools in previous years, this was topped off by being able to bring the Jack Martin Shield back home to proudly display for another year.

We were welcomed by Maniototo Area School performing a Haka and students made the staff at EOHS proud with the Haka they performed in response.

A big thank you to Oceana Gold who sponsored the bus for us to travel to Ranfurly, we are really grateful for the support.

We look forward to hosting MAS at EOHS next year.
