St John Youth Palmerston Division

Kacey Clark —

St John Youth Palmerston Division has nine Gold Cadets and eight go to E.O.H.S. St John Youth this year has been packed with fun events that all age levels could attend. Throughout the year St John Youth has offered day events or camps to help you achieve skills and receive badges in a day or weekend. These events are usually busy with lots to do such as games, get to know you activities, learning skills, and earning the badge.

Other events in St John Youth are the Annual St John Youth Competitions where you go and compete with surrounding units in aspects of St John such as drill, first aid, and so many more different skills.

This year a cadet from Palmerston Division achieved Gold in 3 sections at Coastal Otago District Competitions and was selected to go to South Island Regionals. St John Youth also offers a range of different opportunities in the community such as being part of the local ANZAC Annual Parade. As part of Service to the Community St John Youth help the local RSA on Poppy Day. St John Youth has helped us connect with the local Fire and Ambulance Services where we helped out with practice scenarios using the skills we have learned such as Casualty Simulation. This is a skill you learn at St John Youth to make the patient look injured so you can practise first aid. St John Youth also offers a Leadership Development Course where you learn skills to make you a better leader.

St John Youth has helped push us to be a better version of ourselves.
