Changes to Music Lessons at East Otago High School

Kelvin Cummings —

Itinerant music lessons are changing up for Term 3 and 4. How will the new changes will effect you?

In the first half of this year, many students have been taking part in free online extracurricular itinerant music lessons in our Music Department. These were personalised for each student, each lasting half a period once a week.

Regrettably, due to financial constraints out of our control, we will no longer be able to offer these extracurricular music lessons for free. Therefore, as of the start of Term 3 2021, these lessons will now cost $10 per term per instrument.

If you would like your child to begin, continue, or cancel this free online extracurricular itinerant music lesson programme, email csk@eohs.school.nz, or contact 03 4651513 (ext 807). Only confirmed students will have their lessons continue next term.

ORCHESTRAL ITINERANT MUSIC LESSONS

We do have a specialist orchestral itinerant music teacher (Aart Brusse) come in from Dunedin to teach students face to face each Monday. He teaches all orchestral instruments. These will also be $10, however, these have free loan of an instrument. These are offered in both one-on-one and small group sessions. Students and families can sign up for these by emailing csk@eohs.school.nz, or contacting 03 4651513 (ext 807).

BEDFORD SCHOOL OF MUSIC LESSONS

Additionally, we are lucky enough to have a private itinerant music tutor, Jae Bedford from Bedford School Of Music offering one-on-one and small group lessons at our school for students and families wishing to learn guitar, bass guitar, piano, harmonica, singing, DJing. He also offers courses in songwriting and rock band development. You can sign up for these by emailing tbsom@live.com or visiting www.thebedfordschoolofmusic.webs.com.

These lessons are still very affordable, at a fraction of the price of various other providers, so we would encourage you and your family to continue taking up the opportunity to learn music at East Otago High School.

We look forward to hearing from you.
