EOHS Library Terms Two and Three News 2023

“I’m a big believer in books as doorways into other worlds and other ways of understanding the world we live in. I see books as conversation starters with peers and amongst generations…I’ve had so many parents’ comment that sharing and talking books with their tweens and teens has opened conversations they never imagined being able to have.”

Quote from Megan Daley, Teacher/Librarian, Australia.

Lunchtime Games in the Library Term Two

EOHS Year 9 Readers cup competition.

The team did an excellent job participating in the Otago Regional Finals, missing second place by only one point!!! Thanks for sustaining great reading over Terms One and Two this year.

We are building up our Graphic Novel Collection.

What are the benefits of Graphic Novels?

Graphic novels can be beneficial to readers because they:

Keep a fast pace—The exciting plots and action keep the attention of readers who are very energetic and/or reluctant to read.

Build vocabulary—Fewer words does not always mean simple words.

Brilliant, clever illustrations.

Many can offer rich, deeper, and thought-provoking reading

Maybe try a couple of graphic novels over the Term 3 holidays.Happy reading!!
