Brianne Harris - Head Student Update

Brianne Harris —

Kia ora, Brianne here one of East Otago High Schools Head Students.

I would like to address some of the events, activities and visits all of our students and community members have consumed over the past few weeks.

March the 4th we had eight recipients receiving their A.W Familton Awards simply from excelling in outstanding matters through their subjects. These achievements consisted of Merit and Excellence Standards. All endorsing in their subjects either Levels One and Two. A huge round of applause for this group of students!!

Year 13 students have been hard at it creating fundraisers for their Formal next Term. We currently have three raffles that are held in the School Office. We have also scattered tickets along with photographs of the raffles throughout the town. One is located in our local Pub- Waihemo Lodge, Learning Links and our local Supermarket, The Four Square. The raffle sizes vary in small, Medium and Large parcels. 200 tickets are offered $2 each.

East Otago High School had some very special guests attend DG Murray Hall. Voices Of Hope brought their crew to our Kura sharing many inspiring words. Three recipients from Voice Of Hope came up to speak. We met Genevieve Molder Co-founder and saw Tai Tupou for our second time and we can not forget the amazing Jazz Thornton, she spoke about her Mental Health journey with all our students and staff and touched many souls. I am very sure we all needed the reminder to BE KIND and always create a safe space for those around you.
