A Great Adventure

Kirsty McLachlan —

We were going over bump after bump, the road was very rough. Emily, Mackenzie, Ranui, Mr Walker and I were in the car going to abseiling. We pulled up on the side of the road and got out. My group walked to abseiling and we put the gear on. I didn't like it because it was uncomfortable but I got over it.

The two men that took rock climbing were talking to us and explaining how to make our way down the huge rocks. We walked up the hill to start. I watched people go down the rocks to see how to go down. Then it was my turn and I fell down the rocks that we were climbing down but I was okay.

Then we moved on to the big rock and I got scared. I was crying and I thought I was going to die ! So the man who was taking us rock climbing had to come down and help me. When I got down I got sore feet it hurt so much. Then it was time to stop so we headed back to the spot where we parked the cars.

We had lunch and I was talking to Leila and Emily. Then we got back to camp and I went on the bouncy tramp thing. It was a trampoline but it was run by air. I was mostly hanging out with Leila and Ataahua, and all the other people they were hanging out with. The meals that we had were great. I liked the burgers that we had. I had lettuce, a meat patty, tomato sauce .

Most of the Year Eights were listening to music very late at night. I could hear it when I was trying to get to sleep. Emily hit me in the nose with a book because I kept talking too much. I got a bleeding nose and she felt really bad. But I was okay, I just got over it. It felt like water was shooting out of my nose. It was gross.

In the morning when I woke up there was blood on my pillow.

Then hours and days went past and we did other activities like caving, lots of walking. It was time to go home and we all got packed up. Michelle helped take Leila,Aleah ,Ashlyn and I home and we made some stops on the way home . We went to the kakanui beach and there was sweat dripping off my face because I was running around. I had sand on my face from lying on the sand. It got in my ears which was weird.

I thought that camp was fun. I liked hanging out with my friends and having free time and hearing all the jokes that me and my friends made up.
