Peer Reading 2020

On Thursdays at Activity Time the whole school has Peer Reading. I think it is fantastic because it gets me reading, otherwise I won’t. My tutor helps me with words I do not know because my books have words that are complicated.”

The Peer Reading programme has run over the last six weeks of Term Three, starting with a training session for the senior students who are the reading tutors. Over the following five weeks, each tutor was matched with a junior student, whom the tutor supported while reading books of the junior student’s choice. In addition to helping the younger students develop their reading skills further, the Peer Reading programme fosters supportive interactions between junior and senior students across the school.
