Welcome to our new HOD English - Ms Kate Fisher
We are pleased to be able to welcome Ms Kate Fisher to our team at East Otago High School.
Hi everyone, my name is Kate Fisher and I am very happy to have joined the EOHS whanau. My family and I moved from Auckland to Port Chalmers in December last year and we are already loving having made that decision. I have two children - George and CJ. The three of us were together at Macleans College, where I was teaching and my children were in years 9 and 10. Macleans has a school roll of 2,500 students, so we are excited to join a smaller learning environment where we can get to know everyone!
I have the privilege of being the HOD English here at EOHS, having taken over from Brent Ford, who has moved on to Kavanagh. Teaching young people to understand themselves and open their eyes to the world around them is my passion. I aim to build the English Department’s resource bank by introducing new texts at every year level, and I hope to organise as many visits by accomplished writers as I possibly can. I believe anyone can do well in English. My goal is to see everyone reach their full potential through deep thinking, hard work and active participation.
My door is always open, so please come and have a chat anytime.
