Duke of Edinburgh and our Outdoor Education class had their first tramp of the year. We had seven students tramping from Woodhaugh Gardens in Dunedin walking over Swampy Summit and through Silverstream. 

They then stayed the night in Waiora Camp ground, returning the next day, via Flagstaff. The weather was perfect for tramping, although the clouds came when they crossed Swampy Summit. Most of the students had not tramped with a pack on their backs before and showed they had the perseverance to push through when the going got tough.
