On the 5th of July East Otago High School will be hosting a Matariki event.

An invitation has been sent out to our contributing schools to participate in a number of Maori themed workshops. These students will be working with our Year 7/8 students in activities including;

Ki o Rahi, Poi Making, Maori Myths and Legend drama performances, Art, Kai creation, and other Maori games and past times. 

A Hangi will be laid early in the morning and then shared at lunchtime with all students and staff.

After the hangi is completed all students will go into the hall where performances from a variety of Kapa Haka groups will entertain the guests.

We will need some help from some parents in the preparation of the kai to go into the hangi on Sunday the 4th of July. If you can spare some time on Sunday it would be much appreciated. Please let the school know if you are interested in helping by emailing mcooper@eohs.school.nz.
