Otago Primary Schools Netball Tournament

Holly Chapman —

EOHS had two Year 7/8 Netball teams compete in the Otago Primary Schools Netball Tournament at the Edgar Centre.

Last Friday the 23rd EOHS had two Year 7/8 Netball teams compete in the Otago Primary Schools Netball Tournament at the Edgar Centre. It was a great day to wrap up the netball season for most, and thank-fully not too cold. Team work and sportsmanship were the winners on the day and a great time was had by all players, parents, teachers and coaches alike.

Addisyn Lawrence had this to say about the ‘Tigers’ season:

“We started off with a win, then lost our next five games, but thankfully started winning again half way through the season. This was because we all worked well as a team and gave each other positive feedback. We really know each other’s strengths now and have made so much progress. The tournament was fun, we dressed up as Jamaica and looked awesome! We have to say a huge thank-you to our supporters and coaches, Mr Walker, Miss Anderson, Tessa Hill and Katelyn Toomey. We can’t wait for next year because this team was AWESOME!!!”

The ‘Wildcats’ captain Maia Perry had this to say:

“The Wildcats have had an excellent season, only losing two games. We have been a very serious team, very driven to succeed and have enjoyed playing with new people and have worked hard on our fitness and at training. We finished 2nd in our Thursday night competition and our final was an epic game to play and to watch. Tournament was really fun and we dressed up as Australia to fit in with our EOHS colours. But watch this space because our season isn’t over yet! We still have the Koru Games Tournament in week 9. Training and fitness are getting more serious and we are getting to know each other really well. We are super excited and are so thankful of our coaches and supporters, Pania, Melissa, Sophie, Ella, Mrs Chapman and Mr H.”
