South Island Secondary Schools Winter Tournament Week

Kari Croucher —

East Otago High School sent a 1st XI Hockey Team to the South Island Secondary Schools Mixed Hockey Tournament in Gore.

From the 28th of August to the 2nd of September the 1st XI Mixed Hockey team went to the SISS Mixed Hockey Tournament in Gore.

We stayed at Camp Columba where we met many kids from other schools and formed great bonds, especially with the Mackenzie kids from Fairlie.

Even though we did not win any games we all played amazing, and it was a great experience to play as a team and we all grew a lot closer.

One of the days we had an early morning game so we went and spent the afternoon in Invercargill and went to Splash Palace as well as Kmart.

MVP for the tournament went to William Clare and MIP was goalie Riley Gillam.

Thank you to Peggy and Deon Bridger, also Mrs O'Connell for taking us down and supporting us the whole way through, and thank you to Josh Hagan, Bede O'Connell, Blake Rowland and Flynn Mackenzie who took the time off school to come and be a part of our team.
