Principals Comment 29th of September.

Marcus Cooper —

Nau mai haere mai!

We have almost made it to the end of another term. This term has certainly had its challenges with the three week lockdown caused by Covid 19. This type of disruption can have a number of effects on students, staff and whanau. While we acknowledge the challenges that  everyone has had to face and the significant mental and emotional impact this can have, we do not drop our standards or expectations of our students.

Senior students are currently sitting their mock examinations. These are vitally important at the best of times for derived grades. In these uncertain times with Covid 19 they are even more important in attaining derived grades in case we move into another lock down during the real examination period. I wish all our students well as they study for, and complete these examinations.

On the 18th of September we had a number of students that trialed for the Otago Metro touch teams. Congratulations to the following students for making the teams:

U12 Boys Kayden Miller

U12 Girls Maddison Cooper

U14 Boys Josh Hagan, Blake Rowland

U14 Girls Lakaia Harris, Molly Scott, Paige Walker, Jess Hunter

U18 Girls Abigail Paton

All students trialled well the following Sunday for Otago selection with both Maddison Cooper and Abigail Paton making the Otago teams for their age groups. A huge thank you must go to Mr Herewini who has been the driving force for touch at EOHS and given all the kids the knowledge and expertise to compete at this level. A special mention must also be made of Abigail Paton who has helped the junior girls. Abigail has also made the U19 Girls Rugby team. Well done Girls!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all students and their parents a great holiday period that starts on Friday evening. Enjoy the extended time together as a family and we look forward to an amazing Term 4.
