Vertical Form Structure 2021

Marcus Cooper —

In 2021 we will be changing how we run form time and activity time for Years 9-13.

Unlike in previous years where students have been in horizontal forms (their own year levels for form time and activity time) we are changing to a vertical structure.

What this means is that each house (at Year 9-13) will be split into two form classes of approximately 15 students ranging from Year 9-13.

The purpose of this change is to promote positive relationships across the school and develop leadership of our senior students. Having senior students working with junior students, sharing their experience at school and mentoring them through the school. This gives us an opportunity at activity time to work with the students in pro-social ways to develop our school values and further improve the culture of the school.

Explicit teaching of our values, circle time, discussions and teaching of topics that they might not get in their regular classes (Cyber Safety, Bullying,  Keeping themselves safe in our community, Financial Literacy, Goal setting etc).

We will also be running some year level meetings so that there is still a strong student connection at each year level.

The success of any initiative is dependent on the people involved. Change can be scary for some people but we ask that you have an open mind and support this initiative in 2021. We will be reviewing this throughout the year to ensure it is having the desired outcomes.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact the school and talk to the Principal, Deputy Principal or Deans.
