Year 7/8 Students Poems

Kirsty McLachlan —

We were experimenting with metaphors and created these poems:

What is the Sky?

The sky is a blue paradise

High in the atmosphere

It is a desert of air

It is a long stretch of colour

It is a drop of blue ink

Across the clouds

It is the ocean’s mirror

Glowing in a dark room

By Heath McAra

What are the waves?

The waves are a child

Rushing to greet the sand.

They are a runner racing to the finish line.

They are rough bumps

In the deep blue carpet.

They are swirling confusion

They are big bullies

Beating up and smashing against the rocks.

By Hannah Paul

What is the Sun?

The sun is a shiny gold coin

From the finest treasure.

It is a lonely lemon in its tree

waiting to be picked.

It is a flower in a meadow

Too bright to look at.

It is pacman eating away

The stars as they come out.

It is a ball of fire

Racing across the sky.
