Year 7/8 students get artistic with students from China
Year 7 and 8 students had a zoom meeting this week with students and staff from a Chinese school, where they created 3D artwork.
During period 5 on Wednesday this week, students from Mr Cummings' Social Studies class had a zoom meeting with students and staff from Wenzhou New High-Speed Rail District Experimental School.
They used various colours of play-doh and used these to create a 3D image of a tree on a photo card. They were first asked to put in a grass base, add a trunk in the centre of the sheet, and then add other colours rolled up to look like the main part of the tree.
At the end of the session, they were able to ask and answer questions with the students from China.
The students in the class found it challenging to follow the instructions from someone with a different accent. All the students really enjoyed the creative element of the class. One thing students did mention they liked, was the constant praise like "good job" and "that is beautiful" from the Chinese-based teachers and students.
Students from EOHS will likely continue to have more interactions with schools from China. In the past, students from our school have been able to visit China and work with students and staff in person, while immersed in a completely different culture. All of this was made possible by an organisation called Global Youth Ambassador Project One World Education.
