Get to Go!

Kate O'Connell —

Last Wednesday we had a team of Year 9 & 10 students participate in the Regional Get to Go Challenge in Dunedin.

Get to Go is an Adventure Race where students work as a team of eight to complete the challenges of Mountain Biking, Orienteering (navigation) and a Water Challenge. This year, both mountain biking and orienteering were held at Signal Hill. Unfortunately, the wind was very strong by the time it came to our water challenge, which was meant to be paddle boarding and it was deemed too risky to complete, so that activity got cancelled.

Therefore, results were taken from just the biking and trek. Our team  did very well to finish 4th out of 27 teams and really enjoyed the experience.

There is another opportunity for students to participate in an Adventure Race in Invercargill in November. This is for Year 7-10 Students so anyone interested in getting involved should see Mrs O'Connell or Roz asap.
