Abigail Paton Head Student 2023

Marcus Cooper —

Introduction

Kia ora East Otago High School community, my name is Abigail Paton.

I am honoured to be one of the Head Students for 2023 and aim to do the best job possible to ensure everyone here at EOHS is challenged and encouraged to do their very best.

Here’s a little bit of insight about me; I’m from the Pigroot and live on a sheep and beef farm, where I enjoy spending as much time as possible with my family outdoors. I play a variety of sports but currently I am focusing on rugby and touch.

Academic excellence is also important to me and I have worked hard over the last two years to endorse both Level 1 and 2 with Excellence and various subject endorsements.

I coach touch here at school and love spending time with the younger students through peer support and peer mentoring.

My aim this year is to implement an initiative I’ve been working on throughout the last couple of years called TNT (Trash into Trophies) for years 9 - 13 students. It is essentially a platform to help committed students achieve their goals and strive to build good leadership qualities for the future through mentoring and accountability. More details about TNT will be presented to students and details at Monday’s assembly.
