Literacy Support

Rachael Fitzgerald —

Over the past couple of weeks our Literacy Support students have been working on the reading comprehension strategy of visualising.

By building our visualising skills, we are helping students name and identify why it is important to help build an understanding of a text. It's important that we help students understand that we all have our own unique way of perceiving things, and that these ways are influenced by our own experiences and prior knowledge. There is no right or wrong, the way we connect to a text can be different from another person’s because of our prior perceptions and experiences. This is the visualising activity that we completed, “what is a nogard?”
