Exciting Start for Year 7 and 8 Students in Music Option Classes

Kelvin Cummings —

As the new term kicks off, our Year 7 and 8 students have enthusiastically begun a fresh rotation of option subjects. Among these exciting choices is the Music class, where students are diving headfirst into the world of orchestral instruments.

The new Year 7 and 8 Music lessons are off to a fantastic start. Students are already fully immersed in learning about the Instruments of the Orchestra. They are getting the chance to not only read about these instruments but also experience them first-hand by playing and listening to them. This practical, interactive method of teaching is helping students connect with the material on a deeper level.

The hands-on approach of these lessons, coupled with engaging video tutorials and informative resources, is setting the stage for a truly enriching experience.

At East Otago High School, we believe in making music accessible to everyone. That's why we offer students the opportunity to learn a musical instrument at an incredibly affordable rate of just $10 per term. Whether your child is interested in learning an orchestral instrument like the violin or cello, or something more contemporary like the guitar or drums, there's something for everyone. To sign up, students simply need to leave their details with Mr. Cummings, our Head Teacher of Music, or with the office staff, indicating the instrument they wish to learn.

This term’s music lessons are shaping up to be a memorable experience for our Year 7 and 8 students, filled with new skills, knowledge, and a lot of fun! We look forward to seeing the progress they will make as they continue to explore the wonderful world of music.
