Literacy Support 2021

Rachael Fitzgerald —

As Literacy Support comes to an end for 2021, our students should feel proud of the fact that they are leaving feeling stronger and more confident in their own literacy journey. This year they have shown flexibility and determination; with a change of teacher midway through Term Two and a three week “lockdown” period they have continued to thrive in their own areas of development.

Students have been able to gain knowledge through exploring different reading strategies, technology, working memory and phonological awareness activities. Text and language challenges have been aimed to support and complement them with their classroom programmes, and we have been able to better engage our students with their goals in the classroom setting. The outcomes of scaffolding these skills has brought success, confidence and a can - do attitude!

EOHS Literacy Support is looking forward to seeing our students continue to prosper and shine in 2022 with a continued focus on word recognition, language comprehension, and reading comprehension!

Ka whāngaia, ka tipu, ka puāwai

Nurture it, and it will grow, then blossom.
