Arrangements for Prize-Giving Day 2020

Lynn Murphy —

All students, including Years 11 – 13, are expected to attend school on Tuesday the 8th December 2020.

All students, including Years 11 – 13, are expected to attend school on Tuesday the 8th December. This is a very important school day beginning with form time at 8.40am. A full school assembly will follow to at 9am to farewell staff, present certificates and awards, and read out prize lists for the evening Prize-Giving. This assembly may well take all of Period 1.

Tidy mufti may be worn to school that day, to ensure uniforms are kept tidy for the evening’s Prize- Giving. Students will be involved in rehearsal and practices for the evening's programme, and these will continue throughout the morning.

Those Year 7 – 10 students not involved in prize-giving rehearsals or practices will be in their form classes until the end of period 3. Year 11 – 12 students not involved in the prize-giving rehearsals or practices will be free to go. Those involved will remain for practice.

ALL Year 13 students are to attend the Prize-Giving practice. School magazines will also be distributed at some stage during the day.

Lunch will be at 12noon. (Lunch orders will be available). A fun alternative programme is organised for the Year 7 – 10 students for the afternoon, starting at 1pm.

Prize giving arrangements

This year’s Prize-Giving is to be held in the DG Murray Hall, prize giving recipients and their families, and those whose wish to attend, should go directly to the Hall, and be seated before the Prize-giving ceremony which will commence at 6.30pm sharp.

We would ask that students, parents/caregivers pay particular attention to uniform, ensuring that it has been washed (and repaired if necessary) and shoes have been polished. Students in non-regulation uniform may well be prevented from going up to receive prizes. As this is the most important event on our school calendar, being a formal occasion, we wish students to represent the school well.

Winners of special prizes and school honours awards will be announced at the evening’s ceremony.
