Mr Ian Adamson —

We are all designed to learn in different ways, and at times this can cause problems in a system where assessments can be done in a way which does not suit our learners.

In 2022 staff did professional development with regard to Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a framework to improve and optimise teaching and learning for all people based on scientific insights into how humans learn.

UDL is broken into three parts, engagement, representation and expression. Staff are working on providing multiple means of engagement and allowing students to represent their learning in different ways. We have gone and bought 20 headphones with speakers for our students with dyslexia and writing problems so that those students, gain success and confidence in school. The link below is for anyone who wishes to know more about UDL.
